How Fast Should You Call a New Life Insurance Lead?

The single controllable variable that most changes your contact rate is how long the lead sits before your first dial. Not the script, not the carrier, not the time of day. The gap between submission and first ring.

Why the first minutes matter

A consumer who just submitted a life insurance questionnaire is still in the mindset that made them submit it. They are at their phone, they remember what they filled out, and they expect a call. An hour later they are back at work, and your number is an unknown caller.

You do not need a statistic to act on this. Call as close to the submission as your day allows, and structure your day so that is possible.

A workable first-hour framework

A simple cadence most agents can actually sustain:

  • Dial as soon as the alert arrives. If you cannot, dial within the hour.
  • No answer: try again 15-20 minutes later from the same number.
  • Second no answer: leave one short voicemail naming the request they submitted.
  • Follow with a brief text if your compliance process allows it.
  • Space the next attempts across different times of day over the following days.

Make speed a system, not a habit

Relying on memory is what turns fast leads into stale ones. Two things make speed structural: a notification you cannot miss, and a place where the lead is already open and ready to work.

Broker Buddy sends an SMS alert the moment a lead is assigned, and the record is already populated in your Tracker with the phone number, state and qualification fields. There is no import step between the alert and the dial.

Control when leads arrive

Speed is easier when leads arrive during hours you are actually able to call. In Broker Buddy you choose your states, your approximate daily volume and your delivery days, so you are not receiving records on a day you are not working.

What to do with the ones who never answer

Do not delete them and do not dial them forever. Log the attempts, set a follow-up date, and move on. Consistent follow-up on a modest number of records beats sporadic follow-up on a large pile.

Your Next Lead Could Be an Hour Away.

Choose your states, choose your volume, and let Broker Buddy handle the rest.
